Also, hard drive encryption is mainly for sensitive corporate data where a little performance lag can tolerated happily. Yes, pen drive with hardware based encryption is available already. I remember seeing them at a price comparison site some days ago. Noticed a fingerprint authenticated flash drive too. Well, with faster and powerful computing systems in place today, much of the resources remain underutilized…so on-the-fly software encryption should not impact performance much.
