Its quite a great machine. Ultraportables such as these will truly curve the future in mobile computing. We were all saying that about the iPhone and Palm Centro, but until my phone has a desktop, theres nothing I (we) can do but whip out a laptop, and if its this size and price, well then I wouldn't see why not!

I purchased the EEEPC 701 4GB pearl in the November of 2007. I loved this machine so much I purchased the EEEPC 900 20GB Linux version as soon as became available in April 2008.

My primary motivation was to get hold of a machine fully supported for Linux. Both of my EEEPCs run Ubuntu 8.04 or Hardy Heron beautifully, although some devices such as the web-cam do not work "out of the box" as it were under alternative Linux distributions. The only criticism I have of ASUS as a company is that it has not paid too much attention to accessories such as power supplies etc. (extremely difficult to obtain either online or in a bricks and mortar shop). That said, it is still an amazing machine. Let's see how it will compare to the MSI Wind which is touted to dethrone our favourite ultra-mobile computer.

I have it and I love it, but I don't use it for graphics, so it' s kinda hard to say how it really performs.
