Hi, this is Agnivo Roy, a final year computer applications student from India asking for your help to fulfill his dreams of gifting himself an Apple Macbook Pro laptop on this 22nd. Birthday. (15th. September) Hey, I’m the guy who writes all the unique and informative articles here on this blog!

Why do I need Contributions?
Yes, I could have accumulated the money needed to buy the MBP myself over years. I’m a student myself and things don’t come easily in this part of the world. Things that are default and cheap in the developed countries are dreams in the third world countries. That doesn’t mean gadget freaks can’t lay their hands on them due to the hefty price tags.
This is like a challenge to me. I want to see how effective and active the internet community & fraternity has become over years. While using the laptop purchased with funds accumulated from contributors / online friends across the globe, a feeling of satisfaction and confidence that the whole world stands by you and made your dream successful is really relishing. I can brag that it’s none but my online friends who have gifted me this spectacular laptop on my birthday!
Why a MacBook Pro ?
Yes, why a pricier Apple Macbook Pro when one can get laptops @ $500 these days? The thing is, as a gadget lover, (computer) geek and techie-at-heart, I can’t settle for something that the majority possess. Mac laptops are considered elite class, fashionable and feature rich here in India. So like Apple, I decided to “think different” - of course that’d make my birthday present really special.
Last year, I bought myself a Nokia N91 from my earnings. It costed me $500 and still considered a top-class phone in this part of the world. Now, the MBP costs too much for me to lay hands on; hence need your contributions.
Is this a fundraiser or anything else?
Yes, some might think this is sort of digital begging, but sorry, I have to differ, it’s a fundraiser for a personal cause. I’ve seen a US guy accumulate funds for a car of his dreams in a similar way and was successful! Compared to that, this is a really small target to achieve…isn’t it?
Oh yes, this isn’t a scam either. I have my online reputation to protect, built at various online communities and forums over years! I’d surely post the picture of the laptop when bought.
What do Contributors gain of this?
Yes, “there’s nothing called free lunch”. Besides the satisfaction of helping out a poor chap and being a part of making his dream come true, I’ve decided to give something in return to contributors ; that’s my “thank you” gesture.

You make an interesting case and you’re honest. I hope you reach your goal, unfortunately I’m broke as a joke right now and can’t help.
my partner bought me one for my birthday. instead of getting a news one you might consider the refurbished route of even through craigslist. i bought mine new, though.
