The highly popular web directory script among webmasters - php Link directory or phpLD as its called, just rolled out an update quitely a few days ago. David duVal, owner of phpLD says its still in closed beta to select license owners and would be publicly released for purchase and download very soon. It seems that the last beta is already fixed of bugs and would go as the retail version.

As always, I’m really excited at this launch. I downloaded the package this morning and tried on my localhost. I had heard that the admin panel has gone a complete makeover and yes, it is true. I dunno if you guys will love this new admin panel designed by boby, but I like this web 2.0ish look and feel. The admin panel has mainly got upgraded alongwith some usual and essential bugfixes. You can see the snapshot of the admin panel in the picture above. Unlike the old admin panel, the new admin panel has menus vertically, better standards validation and loads up fast.

Recently, a lot of people using phpLD including myself were experiencing an increase in spam submissions. Auto submitter and comment spamming bots were able to bypass the captcha and were causing hell of problems to us all. phpLD 3.1.0 has many such loophole and exploits fixed and I hope spam submissions would definitely decrease this time. Special time based sessionhash, form code filtering, bot checking and such other strict measures should help us all in the long run. Some extra functionalities relating to DB and better categorization of options were also observed.

The official changelog is available in the phpld 3.1.0 package and should contain all of the changes since 3.0.6. Template that work with 3.0.6 need minor changes as defined in this topic at the phpLD forum. Hope you enjoy this release!
