Today, I’d like to share a few of the WordPress plugins that I use myself and offer great functionality of some sort. I think every WordPress blogger should find them really helpful and indispensible in due course of time.

This list isn’t some sort of out-of-the world thing, but a compilation of great plugins I’ve found over a year. Yes, you may call it’s some sort of personal secret.

SEO And Traffic

Bunny’s Technorati Tags : Allows easy addition to a post of a space-separated list of tags which can be displayed with adequate Technorati links in the template. Can display keywords instead if no tags are available.

DupPrevent : DupPrevent eliminates duplicate content from google index. Makes archives, categories and unnecessary pages non-indexable. Comes with relevant robots.txt too.

Google Sitemap Generator : This plugin will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog and ping on every update! Lots of settings to configure too!

Share This : Let your visitors share a post/page with others. Supports e-mail and posting to social bookmarking sites with nice AJAX popup menu.

Smart Archives : A simple, clean, and future-proof way to present your archives.

WordPress Mobile : Show a mobile view of the post/page if the visitor is on a known mobile device. Now this is cool…start offering mobile/PDa version of your blog to visitors today!

Another WordPress Meta Plugin : Plugin for inserting the META tags ‘keywords’ and ‘description’ into your posts, pages and index page. Highly recommended!

Simple Visit Counter : Tracks and shows total unique visitors and number of users currently online on your WordPress blog.

General Functionality Enhancement

Adsense Target : Provides more control of how google_ad_section targeting is employed on your WordPress blog. Great ad. relevancy for webmasters using Google Adsense to monetize their blogs.

DD Form Mailer : This plugin enables you to have fully configurable and robust secure php form mailers. Use it in contact forms, feedback, lead capture etc. pages. Great piece of work.

Download Manager : Restrict and track downloads through WordPress. Great plugin to use if you offer some downloads through your blog.

Exec-PHP : Allows <?PHP ?> or [?php ?] tags inside of your posts to execute PHP code. Now this is life! :p

Hide Post Preview : Want to hide post preview in admin panel while editing a post ? (due to high load time, etc.) Then this is for you.

Image Manager : Very professional and useful plugin to upload, maintain and insert images into posts right from your admin panel.

WP Cache : I don’t use this plugin but I’ve read that it caches processed wordpress pages and hence your blog theoretically should survive Diggs! Still considered problemmatic by many and your blog may hang ocassionally. Let’s hope it’s development and improvement continues…
