Regular readers of this blog may have read my previous posting on PayPerPost ( My One Month Experience with PayPerPost ). To those who are unaware of what PayPerPost (PPP) is and how it can benefit bloggers, I’d suggest you to read my previous entry. In short, they are an excellent and one of the largest companies dealing in consumer generated advertising services and connects bloggers with advertisers in a very efficient way.
I joined PPP in March 2007 when I heard about the “get paid for blogging” concept. This seemed an interesting and quite attractive idea to me and I signed up shortly with them. I liked blogging and thought why not write my own honest and simple thoughts on the various advertisers and their products in return of some compensation? So, I took my first opportunity and wrote as required by the advertiser, which went well.
Let me clarify that I don’t think that paid posting on your blogs will leave a bad impression or result in loss of repeat visitors and traffic due to them thinking that my views on various products and services are biased. I had decided to write good quality posts and rich, professional content; the same as I do for normal posts. Compromising on quality of posts is a bad idea in my opinion as they remain on one’s blog permanently. Good content always attracts traffic and readers like them.
Anyway, let’s now switch over to PPP. Ahh, what I like about them?
I like their corporate image, professional touch and their website and account management interface. Just like a digital marketplace, the various “opportunities” by advertisers are available for “posties” to take up. Bloggers can only take up opportunities they quality for (based on the blog stats). So full freedom to choose the jobs you want to blog about.
They have a 30 day payment hold on approved posts and till now they have never missed a payment…I received all in time to my PayPal account. I’ve seen good opportunities with high compensations often, took a few and missed some of them as there are thousands of posties willing to take them. They even ran some opportunities where a lucky one gets $1000 for a post every Tuesday! Support has been good to me whenever I needed.
Now comes some things I didn’t like about PPP or some suggestions on improvement :
Though their web interface is quite feature rich, good looking and easy to use, the page loading speed is damn slow at most times. I think and understand it’s due to their server setup and clustered systems, but what people need is fast loading pages, most aren’t geeky enough to understand all backend systems causing the slowness.
I think fixed monetary compensation isn’t good enough. There are many bloggers or posties who simply write rubbish just to make up the word limit or job requirements and get the same amount as bloggers like myself are getting even if they are working hard on content and putting more effort and time. I think they should have some sort of refined blogger history and rating index where post amount is adjusted by that factor. Or based on blogger history and quality of previous posts, they increase the revenue share for them.
The 30 day payment hold IMO is a bit high…it’s be good if they make it 15 days or accumulate the earnings for a month and clear out at the first week of next month.
Also, due to the huge volume of advertisers, opportunities and posties registered at PPP, post approval and support takes a bit of time. I think this has to be improved upon. People have a general tendency to expect fast response times.
PPP is a good service and if you love blogging, it brings some assured monthly income to easily pay off your hosting and domain bills and such others. I like them because I’m always hunting around to find good topics to post about so that my readers find them useful and with PPP, I can choose my post topics and earn a bit of money too.
Having been in paid posting arena for some months month, I’ve found new blogger friends, blogging tactics, tips and tricks and some knowledge on the industry itself. I’m always open to suggestion and ways to improve and have learnt to write better posts with useful content. Yes, my writing has improved as I blog often now. My blogs have updated, good unique content and I hope they will be one of the top blogs in the years to come. I think blog advertising is here to stay and PPP will be one of the major companies promoting this industry.
