Social bookmarking is considered a web 2.0 promotion and marketing technique which has SEO benefits as well. Planned and carefully executed social bookmarking campaigns can increase brand awareness, readership, membership and can result in a constant source of daily traffic flow. Sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Slashdot, Propeller etc. have grown over years and are hugely popular now.

I am a huge fan of social bookmarking. It is a great way to find out what sites are good on the web. With everyone having a website, it is a good way to weave out those less desirable as well as find those that would be unfound otherwise.
