The first release from the new WordPress development branch 2.2 was just released about a month ago and now comes a recommended bugfix release v2.2.1 from the WP stables.
The WP team claims to have improved and fixed some small little bugs since 2.2, resulting in a “finely polished” v2.2.1 released just an hour ago. The Wordpress 2.2.1 version is available for immediate download from WP site.
Quite a few bugs were fixed as listed on this page. The highlights of fixes are the following :
- Atom feed validation fixes.
- XML-RPC fixes.
- Widget backward compatibility fixes.
- Widget layout fixes for IE7.
- Page and Text Widget improvements.
- Some internal admin and default template fixes.
Oh yes, and not to forget the dreaded vulnerabilities in script which leaves thousands of blogs hacked, hijacked and defaced every month :
- Remote shell injection in PHPMailer.
- Remote SQL injection in XML-RPC.
- Unescaped attribute in default theme.
Apparently, a lot of bugs and vulnerabilities have been fixed in the WP 2.2.1 release and I’d recommend everyone running v2.2 to upgrade to this release. I’ll upgrade my blogs to this version when I find some time. So, still can’t comment if the WP permalink trailing slash issue is still there in this new wordpress version.
